At the beginning of year 2005 peace has returned finally also in Sudan , after years of bloody conflicts between the North and the South of the Country.
But who during the war has not been able to work their fields crossed by the fighting armies or who has spent inactive years in the refugees’ fields must re-start from scratch, by abandoning the habit of just surviving thanks to the international aids and re-taking control of their own life .
Re-building a house, coming back to rural activities and find other sources of self-sustenance.
Tore, in particular, has been, during the last few years, the head quarter of the South army and any agricultural and productive activity was there impossible, although the natural resources did not lack.
Indeed, just because of this, his region has received less humanitarian aids than other zones of the Country.
A local association created in order to favour the rebirth of the civil life of all the persons of the village has been now founded in Tore (CARD). CARD has asked us to help it in its work and therefore we have established two projects:
- project 017:
house and constructions: building own houses producing bricks and tiles with the local raw materials (Italian).
- project 018:
agriculture: re-acquiring the techniques of cultivation and start fishing in the Nilo and in other rivers, rich of fish (Italian).
The projects have begun, together with CARD, at the begining of this year 2007:
• initially two of our volunteers, expert associates respectively of agriculture and constructions with poor materials, during a mission on site, have technically analysed the situation for planning the following activities
• now we are analysing mission’s results, for deciding which are the most urgent activities, then some young volunteers, coming out of high school or university, will continuously shift for two years in the technical education and guiding towards the economic management of the job.
The volunteers will form also the CARD associates, so that at the end of 2008 there will be a consistent group of people who have learned the job and are in a position to teaching it to others.
